Repair Warranty & Aftercare

Workmanship Warranty & Aftercare Policy

At Masterteck Repair Ltd, we stand behind the quality of our cosmetic repair work.

Unless otherwise stated in writing, qualifying repairs carried out by Masterteck Repair Ltd are covered by a 12-month workmanship warranty from the date the repair is completed.

The warranty covers defects arising directly from our workmanship or the failure of materials applied by Masterteck Repair Ltd under normal use and where the correct aftercare instructions have been followed.

What Our Warranty Covers

Subject to inspection, our warranty may cover:

  • Peeling, lifting or delamination of coatings caused by a failure of our workmanship.
  • Failure of fillers, coatings or repair materials where this is attributable to the original repair.
  • Premature coating failure under normal conditions of use.
  • Other workmanship defects directly attributable to the repair carried out by Masterteck Repair Ltd.

Where a valid warranty claim is accepted, Masterteck Repair Ltd will normally rectify the affected repair at no additional labour or material cost.

The warranty relates to the original repair only and does not constitute a guarantee of the entire item, surface or surrounding area.

Cosmetic Repair Expectations

Our services are cosmetic restoration repairs intended to significantly improve the appearance and usability of damaged surfaces without necessarily replacing the original item.

A cosmetic repair should not be expected to return an item to factory-new condition.

Minor variations in colour, sheen, grain, texture or finish may remain, particularly when viewed very closely, from an angle, under artificial lighting or under particularly strong/direct light.

Unless otherwise agreed, repairs are assessed when viewed directly from approximately 1 metre away under normal lighting conditions.

Normal and acceptable variations of this nature are not considered workmanship defects and are therefore not warranty claims.

Aftercare — How to Care for Your Repair

Correct aftercare is essential to maintaining the appearance and durability of your repaired surface.

Cleaning

For routine cleaning, use:

  • A soft, non-abrasive cloth or sponge.
  • Clean water.
  • Antibacterial wipes or a mild cleaning product suitable for the surface.

Always clean gently and avoid excessive rubbing or scrubbing.

If you are unsure whether a particular cleaning product is suitable, please contact Masterteck Repair Ltd before using it.

⚠ DO NOT Use — the following should not be used on repaired surfaces:

  • The rough or abrasive side of washing-up sponges.
  • Scouring pads.
  • Wire wool.
  • Magic erasers or other abrasive cleaning pads.
  • Abrasive cleaning creams, powders or pastes.
  • Scrapers, blades or other sharp cleaning tools.
  • Bleach or highly concentrated chemical cleaners.
  • Acetone, solvents, thinners or solvent-based cleaning products.
  • Strong acidic or alkaline cleaning products.
  • Steam cleaners or excessive heat unless the repaired surface has specifically been confirmed as suitable.
  • Any product or cleaning method that requires vigorous scrubbing.

Using unsuitable cleaning products or abrasive cleaning methods can damage or remove a cosmetic repair.

Initial Curing Period

Freshly repaired surfaces require time to fully cure.

Unless your technician provides different instructions for the particular coating or repair:

  • Do not clean or wash the repaired area for at least 24 hours.
  • Avoid unnecessary touching, rubbing or pressure during the initial curing period.
  • Do not place heavy, hot or wet objects directly onto the repaired area while it is curing.
  • Treat the surface particularly carefully for the first few days following completion.

Some specialist coatings may require longer curing periods. Where this applies, the technician’s specific instructions take priority.

Warranty Exclusions

The Masterteck Repair Ltd warranty does not cover damage or deterioration caused by circumstances outside our workmanship, including but not limited to:

  • Abrasive cleaning or scrubbing.
  • Use of the rough side of a sponge, scouring pad, wire wool or other abrasive material.
  • Harsh, unsuitable or concentrated cleaning chemicals.
  • Bleach, solvents, acetone, thinners or similar products.
  • Steam cleaning or excessive heat.
  • Scratching, cutting, scraping or impact damage.
  • Accidental or deliberate damage.
  • Misuse, neglect or unreasonable treatment of the repaired surface.
  • Failure to follow our aftercare instructions.
  • Normal wear and tear.
  • Damage caused by pets, children, tenants, contractors or other third parties.
  • Movement, flexing, vibration or structural movement of the underlying item or substrate.
  • Cracking caused by movement of the original surface or structure.
  • Water ingress, leaks, excessive moisture, damp or condensation.
  • Excessive heat, cold or environmental conditions outside the intended use of the original surface.
  • Existing defects or deterioration within the original substrate.
  • Rust, corrosion or contamination originating beneath or outside the repaired area.
  • Mould or biological contamination.
  • Failure or deterioration of the original manufacturer’s coating, laminate, veneer or material surrounding or underneath our repair.
  • Subsequent building, plumbing, electrical, decorating or construction work affecting the repaired area.
  • Alteration, sanding, painting, polishing, refinishing or attempted repair by another person or company.
  • Damage caused while moving, transporting, dismantling or reinstalling an item.
  • Staining or discolouration caused by external substances or chemicals.
  • Damage caused by placing excessively hot items directly onto surfaces not designed for that purpose.
  • Damage resulting from the use of the item contrary to the manufacturer’s intended purpose.

Where damage has occurred to the underlying substrate or surrounding original material rather than to the Masterteck Repair Ltd repair itself, this will not constitute a warranty claim.

Previous or Third-Party Repairs

Masterteck Repair Ltd cannot warrant the workmanship or materials of previous repairs carried out by another company or individual.

Where our repair is carried out over, adjacent to or is dependent upon a previous repair or coating, our warranty does not cover failure caused by that underlying repair, coating or substrate.

Inspection of Warranty Claims

Warranty claims are subject to assessment by Masterteck Repair Ltd.

We may request photographs, videos or other information before arranging an inspection.

Where necessary, a technician may inspect the repair to determine the likely cause of the reported issue.

If the condition of the surface shows evidence of abrasion, chemical damage, impact, misuse, excessive scrubbing or another excluded cause, the issue will not be treated as a workmanship warranty claim.

Where a warranty claim is not covered, we may offer a quotation to carry out a new repair where practicable.

Reporting a Warranty Issue

If you believe there is a problem with one of our repairs, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible and provide:

  • Your name and property address.
  • The original booking or invoice details where available.
  • A description of the issue.
  • Clear photographs of the repaired area.
  • Details of when the issue first became apparent.

Customers should avoid attempting to repair, sand, scrub, paint or otherwise alter the affected area before we have had an opportunity to assess it.

ℹ Important

  • Our warranty applies to defects in Masterteck Repair Ltd’s workmanship. It is not insurance against accidental damage, misuse, normal wear and tear or deterioration of the original item.
  • Any decision regarding warranty coverage will be based on the condition of the repair, the nature of the reported failure and the circumstances reasonably considered to have caused it.
  • Nothing in this warranty is intended to exclude, restrict or affect any statutory rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted under UK consumer law.
